KAIAPOI SEAT.
Nomination of Labour Party Candidates. Four nominations for the Kaiapoi seat have been received so far by the North Canterbury Branch of the Labour Representation Committee, but other nominations are expected, as the names of probable candidates do not have to be in before Thursda}'- of next week. The nominations to date are those of Messrs G. Manning, J. Mathison, M. Williams and T. Butterfield. In a previous selection ballot Messrs Mathison and Williams tied for the honour of representing Labour in the Kaiapoi electorate at the next general election, and the national executive of the New Zealand Labour Party ruled that a fresh selection ballot must be held. Some little time is likely to elapse before the second ballot will be completed, as when the nominations close the L.R.C. will, in accordance with the usual procedure, write to the various nominees asking whether or not they desire to go to the selection ballot.
