RELEASED ON BAIL.

Mr Bickerton at Liberty After Month in Gaol. “ DAILY HERALD ” COMMENT. United Press* Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 28, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 27. The “Daily Herald” says: “After a month in prison Mr Bickerton has been allowed bail. If he had been arrested in Moscow instead of in Tokio, by now Mr Baldwin would have declared his complete innocence and asked Parliament to approve a trade embargo. Nevertheless it is interesting to know that steps have been taken to assure a speedy and fair trial.” Mr Bickerton, a former Christchurch man, who has been employed at a Japanese University for many years, was arrested on a charge of being a Communist and taking part in Communist activities.
