SUMNER COMMUNITY SING.
The first community “sing'* of the year at Sumner, was held in th© Town Hall on Thursday evening, under the auspices of th© Sumner Ladies' Division of the Bt John Ambulance. There wan a good attendance. In the unavoidable absence of the Mayor, Mr W. H. Nicholson, the Bong leaders were Introduced by Mr G. F. Allen, who out--I’ned the work being done in the borough by the St John Ambulance Association and appealed for more lady members and for the support of the community .at the scries of community “sings” to be held during the winter. He introduced Messrs K. O. Archer and Mark Richards, song leaders, and Mr Bert Goodland, pianist. During the evening solos were contributed by Mrs F. X. Kerr and humorous recitations were given by Mr Goodland. The manipulation of the slides for the songs and the projector was in the hands of Messrs Prebble and Archbold. Tt was stated that the next “sing” would take place at the end of May.
