Dawber, Little River. Mrs Gazzard, St Martins, who has been the guest of Mrs C. Withers, Little River, has returned home. Mrs Rhodes, Wainui, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs J. M’Queen, Little River. Mr and Mrs John Deans, Kirkstyle.. and Miss Nancy Deans, who have been visiting Timaru, have returned home. Mr and Mrs A. Barker, Peel Street, St An drew’s Square. Mr and Mrs W. O. Mackay, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs Ferdo Johnstone, Hossack Station, Hanmer Springs, have returned to Christchurch. Monsieur and Madame de Graeve, Cashmere Hills, will leave on Monday night to join the Akaroa, en route for France and England. Miss I. Good and Mrs L. Woodfield, Gisborne, who have been the guests of Mrs A. J. Archibald, Cashmere Hills, will return home to-day. Mrs A. Tyler, Hopper Street, Welling ton, who has been the guest of Mrs Reg. Brown, Chapter Street, has left for the north. Mrs Hugh Houghton, formerly of Glen Wye Station, left yesterday with her small daughter for Hanmer Springs, where she intends to spend three months. Miss Eileen Stewart left last evening for Auckland, where she will join the Aorangi, sailing on Tuesday, May 1, for Vancouver. She will spend some time in Detroit,

INIr and Mrs lan Deans, Homebush, have returned to North Canterbury, after staying with Mrs R. 11. Rhodes, Timaru. Miss Audry Barker, Rocky Ridges, Geraldine, has returned from a few days in Christchurch. Miss Helen Rich, Cashmere Hills, is visiting Ashburton after staying with Mrs Edgar Jones, Otiritiri. Miss Doris Ronaldson, Christchurch, is the guest of Miss Dorothy Barron, Timaru. Miss Niare Morgan, who has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Rees H. Morgan, Paparoa Street, has returned to Wellington. Mrs Vincent Ward, Heretaunga, has arrived in Christchurch on a visit to her mother, Mrs R. G. Petre, St Albans. Nurse E. Wilson, who has been doing Plunket work on the West Coast, has returned to Christchurch and is staying with her sister, Mrs T. M. Velvin, Malcolm Avenue. Mrs J. F. Buchanan, and her daughters Isobel Turrell, and the Misses Helen and Nancy Buchanan, Fendalton Road, will, leave early next month on a visit to England, sailing by the Rangitata. Mesdames Oakleigh Greenwood and J. G. L. Vernon are members of a committee organising a dance to be held in the Merivale schoolroom on Friday next, May 4, to raise money for the Merivale sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. Staff Nurse Crawford had completed her contract and Nurses Morrison and M. G. Moody would finish their training at the end of the month, the lady superintendent reported to yesterday’s meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. "Mrs J. W. K. Lawrence reports that the Fendalton sub-centre of the Red Cross Society has started working again at Mrs J. F. Buchanan’s home, 39, Fendalton Road, every Monday afternoon at 2.30. New members as well as all the old ones will be wrelcomed, as helpers are urgently needed. Lady Wigram, speaking at a meeting of the women’s executive of the Red Cross Society yesterday morning, mentioned the pleasant surprise she had received a day or two previously when opening a letter to find an anonymous donation of £2, with the message, “ For your winter work.” She expressed the executive’s gratitude to this generous donor.
