BRIDE-ELECT ENTERTAINED.

In honour of Miss Edna King, whose marriage to the Rev M A. M’DowelJ will take place this week, a pleasant kitchen evening arranged by the combined Bible classes and choir was held in the Methodist Schoolroom on Monday evening. The Rev John Harris presided over a large attendance, including representatives of the Woolston, Opawa and Sumner Churches. An enjoyable evening was spent and the guest of honour was the recipient of manv useful kitchen utensils. Mr W. J. Burnell eulogised Miss King’s services to the church and on behalf of the choir presented her with a vase' On behalf of the Young Women’s Bible Class. Miss Annie Johnston asked Miss King to accept an electric jug as a token of their appreciation. The Rev M A. M’Dowell was the recipient of a pen and ink stand from Mr Eric King on behalf of the Young Men’s Bible Class. Items were contributed by Mrs H. W. Heslop (pianoforte solos), Mrs Douglas (songs), Mr T. W. West (recitations), Mr J. Labudde (violin solos), Miss Z. and Mr D. Zander (pianoforte duets), Mrs T. Hay (songs). Mr J. Welson (songs and recitations), Mrs W. Dixon (songs), Mesdames Heslop and West (pianoforte duets) and Miss Z. Zander (dances).
