FRANCE STANDS FIRM.

Opposed to Rearmament of Germany. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, April 17. The French Government is expected to hand to the British Ambassador tonight its reply to Great Britain’s recent disarmament proposals. It is understood that, while expressing admiration for Britain’s increased understanding of the requirements of French security, the reply refuses to agree to the legalisation of Germany’s re-armament in violation of the Treaties, and adds: “As direct disarmament conversations do not offer any prospect of agreement, it is useless to continue the talks.”
