HORNBY SCHOOL.
Headmaster’s Report to Committee. The monthly meeting of the Hornby School Committee was held at the school on Monday evening prior to the householders' meeting. Present: Messrs F. A. M’Teigue (chairman), C. Parker (secretary), L. A. Horman, j. Smalley, Alex Smith, J. Burgess. P. White, .1. Kempthorne and 13. 13. Pearce. The head master reported a roll number of 2(i4 and an average attendance lor March of 213. Absentees were mainly due to the prevalence of measles in the infant department. Mr Williams had been granted sick leave for i month and was being relieved by Mr M. Robinson. The Amateur Swimming Club forwarded an estimate of the cost of material required for repairs to the baths and it was decided to hold the matter over for the incoming committee. The chairman thanked the committee for their assistance during the year. A meeting of the newly elected committee was held at the conclusion of the householders’ meeting, when Mr F. A. M’Teigue was elected chairman. Mr TI. R. Parker secretary, and Mr T. A. Horman secretary of the dental clinic. These three members were elected delegates to the School Committees’ Association. Templeton readies’ Guild, The monthly meeting of the Radies’ Guild was held in the Methodist Church on Tuesday. Present: Mesdames Gordon (president), Musgrove, Jones, Kempthorne, Dale, Tuer, MHnnes, Hill, .Tackman and Rowe. The secretary reported that a large number of schedules had been sent out and final arrangements had been made for the chrysanthemum show to be held on May 2. Afternoon tea was served by members.
