OIL PRODUCTION.

No. 4 Well at Moturoa Begins to Flow. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH. April 16 Production was commenced at the new No. 4 well of Moturoa Oilfields. Ltd., to-day. About 700 gallons of clean crude oil flowed steadily from the well, and 300 gallons of emulsified oil was bailed out during the day. A satisfactory feature was that the tests showed that the water had been excluded above the oil horizon. Water has caused a great deal of trouble in other wells and the testing process will be continued till the end of the month, but the managing director considers the well very promising. lie said that the history of this well had been one of great technical difficulties. Boring had occupied a considerable time having been started at the end of last October. The well is drilled to 2152 feet and the oil horizon is believed to be from 2134 feet downwards. The flow is continuing to-night in a satisfactory manner. The company’s No. 2 well is still producing satisfactorily and the refinery is operating.
