CITY COUNCIL WORKS.

Improvements in Widening of Streets. The City Council Works Department continued its policy of widening narrow streets during the past year, and work has been carried out in nearly all cases where land has been dedicated. The works done include the following: Stanmore Road—The widening has been completed on the west side throughout, north of the old school site near London Street. St Albans Street—Opposite to Rutland Street, rendering the intersection with that street much safer. Ashgrove Terrace Both north and south of Duncan Street, making the turns from that street safe and easy where it was dangerous before. Locarno Street—The widening and construction of a path has been completed throughout on the south side. In addition, minor widenings have been carried out and about thirty corners have been rounded off.
