Colonel Colquhoun To Give Address. IMPRESSIVE. CEREMONIES. The military parade on Anzac Dav, Wednesday. April 25, will be on much the same lines as in other years. A halt will be made at the Bridge of Remembrance, on which will jbe placed a wreath on behalf of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. The returned soldiers, who will be under the command of Colonel J. Murphy, will remove their hats while crossing the bridge, as a mark of respect to the fallen. The following bands will parade: Woolston, Derry’s Military, Christchurch Municipal, Stanmore’ Salvation Army, Scottish Society and Caledonian Pipe.- They will be allotted various positions in the procession, which will be headed by a gun carriage and firing party, followed bv the wreath bearers, veterans, Imperial ex-servicemen, and ex-members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in their various units. The Imperial ex-servicemen will be headed by survivors of the Old Contemptibles. Order of Service. The Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan. M.P.) will preside at the service in the King Edward Barracks. The order of service will be:—Funeral March (Chopin), by the R.S.A. Orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr H. G. Glaysher, formerly of the Band of H.M. Royal Regiment of Artillery ; hymn, “ O Valiant Hearts,” announced by the Rev O. After the service the wreath bearers and returned soldiers will reform and march to the Cathedral, where the wreaths will be received by the Cathedral authorities and deposited on the frames erected for that purpose in front of the Cathedral. Members of the R.S.A. executive will afterwards proceed to the soldiers’ portion of the Bromley Cemetery, where a poppy will be placed on each grave, and the president of the association (the Rev F. T. Read) will give a short address. Sal© of Poppies. Arrangements have virtually been completed for the sale of poppies next Friday. The various women’s organisations have again undertaken to establish depots in various parts of the city for the sale of poppies, but more helpers are required- The headquarters will be the Navy League Hall, Gloucester Street, and morning and afternoon tea will be supplied to the helpers as they complete their turn of duty. The price of the poppies, which is decided by the R.S.A. headquarters in Wellington, is Is. It is hoped that the response will be even greater than last year’s, as the distress among returned soldiers and their dependents is still very severe. The whole of the money collected, after payment has been made for the poppies, will be used for the relief of distress. Satisfactory sales of poppies have already been made in the country districts. In many cases the sales show an increase over those of last year. Valuable assistance has been rendered this year by the suburban committees.
