SOVIET EMBASSY.
Opened With Great Pomp in Washington. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON. April 10. Under a new flag, but with much of the old Imperial pomp, the Ambassador, M. Troyanovr.ky, held the first official reception at the Soviet Embassy tonight. There were five hundred guests, including judges of the Supreme Court, members of the Cabinet, among whom was Mr Cordell Hull (Secretary of State), lesser officials and the Diplomatic Corps. They partook of chef■d’oeuvres far exceeding in variety the simple refreshments offered at the White House. This is the first occasion on which the Embassy has been opened in thirteen years. It contains many art objects of the Czarist days, the only notable change being the reconstruction of the room which was formerly the armoury of the Romanoff Ambassador. It is now the business office, with a bust of Lenin conspicuous among the decorations.
