HARBOUR RECEIPTS.

Decrease Shown for Month of March. I here was less business at the port of Lyttelton during last month than in March, 1933. according to the figures given to the Harbour Board this mornbv Mr C. IT. Clibborn, secretarv and treasurer, in his monthly report. However, receipts for the first ten months of the financial year were slightly in excess of the figure for the corresponding period last year. The report stated that since the last meeting and up to March 31 the amqunt paid into the harbour fund account was £6831 5s Bd, as compared with £11.533 6s 2d in March, 1933 a decrease for the month of £4702 0s 6d. The receipts for the first six months (October, 1933, to March, 1934) of the financial year were £39,642 16s 6d as compared with £.39,180 5s 3d for’ the corresponding period of 1932-33. The bank book showed the harbour to ~ be in Cl *edit to the amount of £2/Jl los 3d, and the unpaid items amounted to £728 3s 4d, which left the a ™ unt in credit to the extent of £2063 11s lid. “ The experience of the other main ports is exactly the same as ours,” said Mr Clibborn. “ They have dropped on the month, but show an increase over the half-year.”
