SEALING RECORD.
Captain Brings in His Millionth Pelt. VANCOUVER. April 4. Newfoundland’s old capital. St Johns, gave a rousing welcome to the sealing fleet, which has returned with the greatest kill for ten years More than 200,000 pelts were aboard the ships, which sailed proudly into the harbour. The entire countryside was dressed up for the gala event. Not a single man was lost this year during the fleet’s hazardous foray into the northern floes. The leading ship was the staunch Boethic. with its grizzled skipper. Captain Abram Kean, who has made a ship’s record unequalled in the world’s history. Captain Kean is seventy-eight vears of age, and for sixty-six years, without once missing, he has gone out on the ice. He becomes the orily shipmaster who has brought in a total of one million pelts from the Arctic.
