Following the lead Of Australian exchanges, banks are rather quiet, but insurance stocks, on the other hand, are very firm. At this morning’s call there were buyers for New Zealands at 595, with lowest sellers at 60s. This is the. highest value yet placed upon New Zealand Insurance shares. The breweries section received a fair amount of attention, with buyers for Dominion, New Zealand, Tooths and Timaru. A parcel of Tonliey’s was on offer at 28s, and one of Tuis at 555. Brian Borus made a good sale. £1 scrip changing hands at £2 0s 6d. after which more was available at that figure. Waihis were steady between 34s 6d and 355. Government stocks were in keen demand.
