"GOOD COMPANIONS.”
Everyone who has read J. B. Priestley’s best-seller, “ The Good Companions,” will find rare entertainment in the talking picture version of this delightful novel, which be-gan a return season at the Grand Theatre to-day. Nor will anyone, either familiar or unfamiliar with the book, have cause for disappointment in the screen presentation of this triumph of British production. Victor Saville, the* director, has achieved outstanding success in cutting away trivialities and building up the main points of interest, so losing nothing of the expressiveness and force of the story. The character studies for which the book is justly famous are reflected with the same brilliance of portrayal on the screen. Although the producers have selected Jessie Matthews as the star, it is impossible to pick out any really dominating actor or actress, since the interest is not converged on one face or one voice, ,but on the cast as a whole.
