Ladies’ Tournament at Shirley. MISS BARNSGRAHAM BEATEN. The conditions for the second day s play in the women’s provincial golf tournament were perfect to-dav. The first rounds of the championship and the Shirley Cup were played, with the following results:— Cbampionsblp. First Round. Mias Fleming beat Mrs M’Killop, 4 an MisVi K. Johnston beat Mias I- Steven80MiRR ar *E 4 White-Parsons beat Miss Beadel. 1 up at the nineteenth. Miss H. Loughnnn beat Miss w - Barns-Graham. 2 and 1. Shirley Gup. Miss B. Rutherford beat Mrs Butcher. 1 Mrs W. Stiekings beat Mrs E. C. Parsons beat Mrs K. Gresson, 4 JllL 3 ' Pringle beat Miss Morrish. 5 and 4. Notes on the Play. Miss Fleming and Mrs M’KIUop had a very even game to the turn, which Miss Fleming reached in 37 to Mrs M’Killop’s 39, Miss Fleming being 1 up. fMrs M’Killop lost an opportunity of winning the eleventh through faulty green work. Miss Fleming continued with steady play to run in a winner 4 Miss Johnston took the first six holes against Miss Stevenson to put her in a commanding position, which she retained to win Miss Beadel p.ayed a strong game going out against Miss White-Parsonß. She reached the turn in 38 and became 4 up at No. 12. She went to pieces here, while Miss Parsons was remarkably steady in bogey figures and took five holes in a row. The match was sciuared at the eighteenth, which Miss Beadel won. Miss Parsons won the deciding hole. Miss Barns-Graham and Miss Loughnan had a very even game. There was never more than a 1-up margin till the seventeenth was reached. Both reached the turn in 3 9 and the match was square. Coming home. Miss Loughnan was the steadier and she clinched the match at the seventeenth. Her completed round was 79. Bogey Match. The following were the best scores in the bogey match:— Seniors—Mrs A. E. The Kirk-Windeyer Cup golf contest between New South Wales, the holders, and New Zealand opened on the Middlemore links to-day. The weather was ideal. The first eighteen holes of the foursomes were completed shortly after one o’clock. T. H. Horton and B. V. Wright (New Zealand) were then 1 up on W. R. Dobson and P. F. Hughes (Australia). B. M.
