MINISTER RETIRES.
Farewell to Rev T. W. Vealie. The Rev T. W. Vealie. after fortyfour years’ service in the Methodist ministry, is retiring from active work. For the past two years he has been superintendent minister of the Cambridge Terrace Methodist Circuit. Mr Vealie was farewelled at the Cambridge Terrace Qhurch on Monday evening, when Mr E. W. Hall presided over a large gathering. Miss L. Graham, on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild, presented Mrs Vealie with a bouquet. The Rev Clarence Eaton (president of the Conference) referred to Mr Vealie’s splendid services wherever stationed and stated that he had a record of achievement which might well be the envy of many. On behalf of the Methodist Connexion, Mr Eaton extended grateful thanks to Mr and Mrs Vealie, with the prayer that their wellearned retirement would be blessed with good health and happiness. The Rev M. A. Rugby Pratt (Connexional secretary) made reference to Mr Vealie’s success as a church builder. Many fine churches were standing as a testimony to the energy and skill of j his leadership. His success in cementing congregations in the bonds of love j and service had been even greater than that of mere edifice, and he had been j most ably assisted by Mrs Vealie. The Rev John Harris referred to the j esteem in which Mr Vealie was held by his brother ministers. An untimely sickness had prevented him from receiving the highest honour which the Church could bestow.
