—♦ • Meeting of the Druids’ Lodge. (Special to the “ Star.”? ASHBURTON, March 27.' The AD.. Brother R. T. Latimer, presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Star of Ashburton Lodge No. 14. U.A.O.D. last evening. The Bards reported on members on the funds and sick pay was passed. An invitation to attend the opening of a juvenile lodge on April 10 was received from the Lilv of Temuka Lodge and accepted. The Foresters Lodge invited the Druids to a card match at the Orange Hall on April 16. The invitation was accepted. In view of the match with the Hibernian Lodge on April 9 it was decided to open the lodge that night at seven o’clock. An application for superannuation was received and recommended to the Board of Management. Proposed Memorial. An offer to defray the cost of erecting a brass plate to the memory of the Rev E. S. Buchanan, who was head master of the Ashburton High School from 1892 to 1894 was received at the meeting of the Board of Governors from Mrs Buchanan, who is resident in New York. The offer was accepted and it was decided to erect the plate in the Assembly Hall. Rugby Union Officials. The following nominations have been received for offices on the Ashburton Rugby Union:—President. Messrs J C. C. M’Lachlan. R. H. Biggar; vicepresidents (2). Messrs 11. Sarney, H. D. Johnston. 11. Porter, F. Kennedy; management committee (6), Messrs J W. Smith. H Porter, A. Thomson. Tames Smith, A. Doig, A. F. Macdonald. Personal. Mr T. B. Hay don. who has been appointed head master of the St George School. Invercargill, will leave for the south on Monday. Mr H. A. Tempter, manager of the Ashburton branch of the Bank of New South Vales has received notice of transfer to Nelson. He will take up his new duties after Easter.
