President Roosevelt to-day proposed further reductions in naval strength in the 1935 disarmament parley, when he signed a Bill authorising the con struction of the Navy to the exist ing Treaty strength “ It has been, and will be, the policy of the Administration to favour continued limi tation of armaments.” the President declared. He said that the construction measure contemplated expenditures of 500,000.000 dollars to 750.000,000 dollars over a seven-year period for ships and aeroplanes. The Bill would permit of the construction of 65 destroyers, 32 submarines, 4 cruisers and more than 1100 aeroplanes.
