RESTORING THE CUT.

Consideration by Committee of Hospital Board. SALARIES OF UNDER £2OO. Consideration of the question of restoring the 10 per cent cut on wages and salaries of £2OO and under will be undertaken by the Finance Committee of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Mrs E. R. M’Combs, M.P, moved at this morning’s meeting of the board “ that the Finance Committee of the board be requested to bring down a report on the board’s finances with a view to restoring the 10 per cent cut on wages and salaries of £2OO and under.” With the consent of members Mrs M’Combs changed her original maximum figure from £350 to £2OO. Mrs M’Combs said that the time fcr reconsidering the salaries of their staff had arrived. If such a move was taken it would be a step towards national recovery. It would be a small step but one that was most desirable. All she was asking for was a report from the Finance Committee, as she realised that nothing could be done without that. Mr A. T. Smith, in seconding the motion, said that he hoped that the Finance Committee would consider the matter thoroughly and bring down a report. There was no further discussion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
