Southern Cross to Leave To-morrow. WEATHER IMPROVING. Per Pres* Association. AUCKLAND, March 28 The Southern Cross monoplane, piloted by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, left the Mangere aerodrome at 12.30 p.ir. to-day for Ninety Mile Beach. The plan is to leave for Sydney At 2.30 o'clock to-morrow morning The weather to-day improved and S r Charles received a favourable report from Dr Kidson. The plane, on leaving Auckland, tock some hundreds of letters posted latv The bulk of the air mail had been forwarded overland. It is intended to place the machine on planking above high-water mark on the beach and to remove it on to thhard sand late to-night. It is hoped to reach Sydney late to-morrow afternoon.
