Southern Attractions.
Dear Sir,—Yet another distinguished v’isitor to New Zealand is to get his impressions of this country’ almost solely from the North Island. I refer, of course, to G. B. Shaw. Now, although our northern friends may think so, the North Island is not New Zealand, and we in the south are beginning to resent the tendency’ of visitors to ignore us. Put Mount Cook, the southern lakes and Milford Sound in the balance against anything the North Island can offer, and, if publicity favours were equally’ distributed, the South Island would be seen to have more real attractions than the unstable north.—l am, etc., FAIR DEAL.
