Officials of the Seamen’s Union are in touch with the crews of the Wanganella, Kooyong and Allawa as a result of reports of disaffection. One official is reported to have predicted a general hold-up, but he declined to say so for publication with his name. The crew of the Kooyong gave notice, but the captain informed the j owners, M’Uraith and M’Eachern, later ! that the notices had been withdrawn, j The shipowners’ chairman, Mr J. L. j Webb, refuses to comment.
