OBITUARY.
G. S. Langford. Per Frees Association. INVERCARGILL, March 20. The death is announced of Mr George Sherwin Langford, for the past ten years mine manager of the Linton Coal Company’s mine at Ohai. He was the first man to introduce electricity into Southland coal mines, and, realising the coal bearing nature of the Ohai district, was the first to advocate extensive boring operations there. J. H. Kissell. , Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, March 20. The sudden death occurred yesterday of Mr John Henry Kissell, aged seventyfive, a former Mayor of North Invercargill. He was also a member of the Invercargill Licensing Committee, and was keenly interested in both Rugby football and bowls. George C. Smith. The death occurred on Monday of Mr George C. Smith, a former resident of Lyttelton and more recently of Christchurch. During his residence in Lyttelton Mr Smith was a member of the Lyttelton Borough Council, a warden at St Saviour’s Church, quarter-master-sergeant in the N Battery, and
a member of the West Lyttelton School Committee. He was a keen bowler. Mr Smith was a Justice of the Peace. He was born in *he Isle of Wight and arrived in Lyttelton by the. ship Waimate. He leaves a widow, a son and two daughters.
