WAIMATE HUNT.
Arrangements for the Season. (Special to the “ Star.*’) WAIMATE, March 20. At a meeting of the committee of the Waimate District Hunt Club it was reported that arrangements had been concluded with the South Canterbury Hunt Club for that club to supply huonds and? servants for the coming season for the sum of £IOO, and also to take over the Waimate pack of hounds. The president (Mr N. A. Rattray) re- *. ported that the South Canterbury Hunt Club had also undertaken to supply the nucleus of a new pack of hounds to the number taken over, when Waimate was ready to again run a pack on its own account. He also reported that part of the funds to be found for this purpose was to come out of the rental for the Kennels property, but this had been vacant since the club’s huntsman had left the district. A letter was received from the Canterbury Jockey Club enclosing a donation of £2O to the club’s funds. The secretary’s action in sending a letter of acknowledgment was approved. The president suggested that the opening run for the season should be held on May 10. as it was essential that time should be allowed for horses to qualify for the South Canterbury point-to-point. The South Canterbury Hunt Club had extended an invitation for two Waimate members to attend meetings of its committee. It was decided that Captain Rattray and Mr C. C. Douglas, master and deputy-master, be appointed to attend any meetings thought necessary. It was resolved to hold the annual point-to-point meeting on Thursday, June 28.
