faeldom has a New Year opened with such bright prospects for world trade and for the motor business in particular. air William R. Morris, Bt. (who received a peerage in the Honours List), voiced the genera] feeling of optimism by stating that, in his opinion, not only had trade “ turned the corner,” but a very good time lay ahead of us all The sales positions of the various factories controlled by Sir William have never revealed .a healthier state, in regard to both home and export markets. Morris export sales for the first four months of the 1934 season were nearly 50 per cent up, and equally good returns were shown by the Wolseley, MorrisCommercial and M.G. factories. During a recent week, Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., received more orders than in any previous week in their history. The Wolseley Company is employing more hands than ever in the past, and its wages bill the week before Christmas was the largest, it had ever paid. The average increase in overseas orders for Morris. Wolseley, MorrisCommercial and M.G. products (new exported by Morris Industries Exports. Ltd.) for the period September to December inclusive 1933, compared with the corresponding months of 1932. was the remarkable one of over 120 per cent.
