SUMNER NEWS.
Arrangements Made for Gala. The president, Mr R. Meyer, occupied the chair at a meeting of the SumnerRedcliffs branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association and the Women's Auxiliary. The secretary retorted that the Sumner Borough Council had agreed to meet representatives of the branch to discuss matters relating to the site for the tents and marquees. It was also reported that the business people of the township had been consulted and in all cases were prepared to assist the committed. Messrs Dixey and Harrison were appointed a sub-committee to meet representatives of the Borough Council. It was agreed that the gala should be conducted solely by the members of the branch and their friends. It was decided that, subject to the consent of the Borough Council, the programme for Easter Sunday should include programmes of music by the Woolston Band in the afternoon and by the Returned Soldiers’ Association Orchestra and the Male Voice Choir in the evening.
