“WALTZ TIME.”

Musical Romance and Prince of Wales Film for Regent. “ The Song of Songs ” will be shown finally to-night at the Regent Theatre. In “ Waltz Time ”, which will begin at the Regent Theatre to-morrow, music is the main objective. The point of personal interest in “ Waltz Time ” will be the appearance of Evelyn Laye, England’s leading musical comedy actress, in her first British talking picture. Evelyn Laye was promoted from the chorus and given her first stage role by Frederick Blackman, now a J. C. Williamson, Ltd., producer. Waltz Time ” lias been adapted from “Die Fledermaus ” (“The Bat”), the famous operetta written by the Johann Strauss who is usually identified as Johann Strauss 11., and who is known universally as the writer of the incomparable waltz ' “ The Blue Danube ”. Louis .Levy, director of music at the Shepherd’s Bush Studios, spent we-ks at the Strauss Museum in Vienna in consultation with an expert on Strauss music before he began the task of reharmonising the score of “Die Fled:rmaus ” for the libretto of “Waltz Time,” written by A. P. Herbert. Also on the new programme at the Regent will be a film entitled “ His Roval Highness the Prince of Wales Because this is an effort that at a timely moment brings to every British subject a reminder of the greatness and tradition of the British Empire, and because it illustrates in vivid sequence the most popular personality in the world, this screen record of the life of the Prince of Wales is one that should hold a powerful attraction for everybody. It shows that his whole life has been one of service to the community, and proves that the of Royalty are not to be envied. At the same time, it evolves as a fascinating history of the adventures of this much-loved figure, showing him as a human being at work, at play, and always acting the perfect ambassador for the best principles that lie behind the British Commonwealth. The film, was produced by the Gaumont-British studios with the collaboration of the Prince of Wales. Box plans at The Bristol.
