DRAMAS FOR LIBERTY.
“ The Woman I Stole ” and “No Marriage Ties.” “ The Crooked Circle ” and “ Disgraced!” will be shown finally to-night at the Liberty Theatre. Two dramas, “ The Woman I Stole,” starring Jack Holt, and “ No Marriage lies” (Richard Dix and Elizabeth Allan) will comprise the new double bill at the Liberty theatre to-morrow. Jact Holt, who will be remembered for his virile performances in recent pictures, reappears in. a similar role in “ ihe W oman I Stole.” He is seen as a swaggering, somewhat conceited oil producer, who is used to getting everything he wants. lie falls in love, with the wife of one of *his superintendents, but puts his work before his private affairs and gives a splendid performance as a thorough, competent righting man. Xoah Beery does good work as a bandit chief, who cuts the oil company’s pipe-lines and fires its wells. •Donald Cook and Fay Wray are cast as the superintendent and his wife. The fine acting of Elizabeth Allan, Doris Kenyon and Richard Dix is a distinctive feature of “ No Marriage Ties.” Elizabeth Allan is a beautiful and talented English star who was specially engaged for the production, and her performance stamps here as an actress with a most promising future. Dix rises to new heights in the part of Bruce Foster, whose persuasive ways and smooth tongue, allied to an ingenious mentality, bring him success in the advertising world and the hearts of two women of different types. The part is one requiring the finest characterisation, and Dix reveals himself as capable of meeting all its exacting requirements. His rise to power by questionable tactics and the dramatic climax t 6 his indiscretions which finally brings him to his senses are portrayed with a fine restraint. Doris Kenj'on, a popular star of the silent pictures, gives a finished performance in her first talking picture. Box plans at The Bristol.
