Death of Adopted Maori Chieftainess. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrigh t. LONDON, February 20. The death has occurred of Mrs Laura Madocks, wife of Brigadier-General Madocks, and daughter of the late Sir Walter Buller. conductor of the AngloMaori negotiations after the hostilties in the ’Sixties. Mrs Madocks, who was bom in New Zealand was, in recognition of her father’s services, adopted as a Maori chieftainess. She collaborated with her father in the collection and annotation of wild birds of the Dominions, which was presented to the Wellington City Council in 1906. Both her sons were accidentally killed in 1928, Kenrick in a motor accident in France, and Gwynn while flying at the Household Brigade’s aviation meeting.
