FRENCH MUSIC.

“ Good Companions ” Club Meets. The first meeting for this year of the Rangi-ruru Old Girls’ French Club, the “ Good Companions,” as it has been named, was held yesterday evening at the home of Mrs W. 11. Clark, Bealev Avenue. Miss Lettice Loughnan gave an interesting lecture on French music, illustrating her remarks by playing the following programme:—Soeur Monique and Le petit rien (Francois Couperin), Novelette (Francois Poulence), Menuet (Maurice Ravel), Reflets dans l’eau and Arabesque (Claude Debussy). To mark the contrast in style between French and Polish music, she concluded the programme by playing Chopin’s G Minor Ballade. Miss Horth, speaking in French, expressed gratitude to Mrs Clark for her hospitality and to Miss Loughnan for her interesting address. Those present, all of whom were entertained at supper by Airs Clark, were: Misses Horth, Margaret Clark, Doreen Might. Gwen Smyth. Mavis Reese, Julia Srarvell, .lean Ashworth, Edith Tod, Jean Eliott, Molly Dailey, Dorothy Leversedge, Muriel and Dorothy Undrili. Joan Bates, Ranee Broughton, Joan Hanna, Dorothy and Eileen Kernahan, Sybil Corsbie. Joyce. Burt. Mary Barrett and Mavis M’Crostie.
