ANNUAL OUTINGS.
Staff of Weeks, Ltd., Hold Sports.
The employees of Weeks, Ltd., and their friends journeyed to Stewart’s Gully on Saturday for their forty-third annual picnic*. A feature of an enjoyable day was the basket-ball match between the girls of Weeks, Ltd., and Lichfield Shirts, Ltd. At the conclusion of a varied sports programme tic manager (Mr W. F. Soper) presented the prizes. The results were as follows:—Apprentices’ race—L. Hean 1, T. West 2. Children’s races—Girls under five, Esma Soper; boys under five, Bernie Soper; girls under ten, Muriel Mackintosh; boys under ten, Keith Kerr; girls under fourteen, Norma Keene; boys under fourteen, Stafford Brooks. Weeks, Ltd., women’s handicap, 75yds— G. Pring 1, N. Mills 2, E. Henderson 3. Married women’s race—Mrs Carey 1, Mrs Comyns 2. Egg and spoon race— Miss G. Pring and A. Rumens. Weeks, Ltd., men’s handicap, lOOvds— A. Rumens 1, W. Kerr 2, L. Hean 3. Wheelbarrow race—Miss M. Swanston and L. Hean. Married men’s race—R. Wright 1, C. Pegg 2. Women’s stepping- competition—Mrs Gray. Men—W. F. Soper. Weeks, Ltd., championship, 220yds—L. Hean 1, J. Raistride 2. Women’s dartthrowing competition—Miss G. Pring 1, Mrs Kerr 2. Men—R. Sullivan 1, Hibbard 2. St Chad’s Sunday School. The annual picnic of St Chad’s Sunday schools was held at Rawhiti Domain, New Brighton, on Saturday, in fine weather. There was an attendance of some 230 children, besides adults. The children were provided with everything without cost to themselves—tram ride, food and prizes. The food arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames Richards and Baker and helpers. The following are the results of the races:— Boys—Under seven years: T. Atkinson 1, M. Powell 2. Seven years—M.
