Otago Wickets Fall Cheaply. FINAL DAY OF MATCH. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 20. The final day of the Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Otago commenced at Carirbrook this morning in fine weather. The wicket was in good order, and the outfield fast. Moloney (13) and Uttley continued Otago’s innings, which stood at two for 41, to the bowling of Morgan and Parsloe. Moloney advanced the total to 50 with a series of singles, but with the tally at 55 Uttlej was well stumped by James off Blundell, who had replaced Morgan. 553—-4. Both bowlers were keeping an excellent length and making the ball kick, and the bat'men were playing cautiously. Moloney turned Parsloe to the square-leg boundary, but with the next deliverv Parsloe took his leg pin. with a splenlid-length ball. 65—4—27. Talbot opened his account by hooking Blundell for a brace, but the next ball went lbw. 68—5—2. The captain. Badcock, joined Elmes and late cut Parsloe to the bounary, bringing 70 up. Badcock hooked Blundell for 4, but the next time touched a rising ball. Tames completing the work. 79—6—6. With the total at 00 Newman replaced Parsloe and the change was immediate! v successful. Dickinson was caught at cover off Tindill. 92—7—6. Chettleburgh. the incomer, started by banging a full-toss to the square-leg bounlary and fallowed with a brace, bringing up 100 in 99 minutes. Elmes reached 20 by straight driving Blundell for 4. Keen Fielding. Chettleburgh reached 10 by hooking Newman to the boundary, and repeated the stroke for a brgtce. The Wellington fielding was keen, the ground work being particularly good. Morgan was outstanding in this respect. Elmes was batting slowly and steadily, playing correct cricket under the circumstances. Blundell replaced Parsloe. A spell of desultory play was broken by Chettleburgh turning Blundell to the fine leg boundary to reach 20. He followed with an on drive for another four, bringing 130 up. Griffiths spelled Newman. Elmes advanced his tally to 30 by hooking him for 3, and 150 appeared after 144 minutes’ play (Chettleburgh 36. Elmes 34). Both batsmen were now well set, and runs were coming freely. After the partnership had added 66 runs to the total Chettleburgh edged a ball to slips, Ell accepting the catch. 158—8— 39. Clark joined Elmes, who ran to the forties after square-cutting Griffiths for four. Elmes advanced his tally to 50 with a brace. At luncheon eight wickets were down for 179. Scores:— OTAGO.
