Resolutions Passed by Conference. Per Press Association. ' DUNEDIN, February 20. The twentieth annual conference of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers commenced this morning,' Mr F. J. Williams presiding over an attendance of about eighty delegates. It was resolved to submit to the Government the urgent need for passing the Building Construction Bill, as the society considered the proposed alternative inadequate in that it was neither compulsory nor reasonably applicative outside borough limits. Further resolutions were tc? urge that some portion of the immense sums spent on unemployed relief be applied towards town planning and building construction for greater earthquake safety.
