Coolness and accurate left-hand work won Eddie Pearce, the South African cruiser-weight, a points victory in a fifteen-rounds bout with the Australian. Al Burke, at Blackfriars. Franklin Defeats Oxley. Per Press Association. NAPIER. February 19. In a professional boxing contest Franklin. 9.4 (Gisborne) was awarded the decision in the tenth round over Ted Oxley, 9.7 (Pahiatua), light-weight champion of New Zealand. Franklin had the better of the bout throughout and extended grm-lling punishment, which earned him the verdict on a technical knock-out. In another professional match between Donkin and Knuckey, both of Hastings, the latter wpn on points.
