WOOL SALE.
• Easing in Rates Ruling at Napier. Per Press Association. NAPIER, February 20. , The third Napier wool sale showed a considerable general easing from the high rates of the January sale, the rates being more on a par with De- • cember sales. The quality of the wools offered was . not so attractive as at the last series and from this point of view prices w r ere considered satisfactory. • There was a full bench of buyers, the Continent being well represented, and they provided most of the competition, which was spirited up to the • limits set. Passings were fairly numerous. Fine wools were most keenly f sought after, but badly finished and poor wool was rather neglected. One line of Southdown realised 20id, but other lines not so well finished failed to reach such a high figure. Lambs realised up to 16*d, with an average of 14d. Fine bellies sold at an average of 12d. Medium cross-bred averaged 9d to lOd, coarser lots B*d to 9d. At times bidding became very dull. The fear was expressed that the opening values would not be maintained to ..the end of the catalogue of 25,000 bales.
