Petrol Prices.

Dear Sir, —Mr F. W. Johnston is to be congratulated for presenting a statement recently which was but a reflection of the minds of 99 per cent of the motorists. Why the Government has failed to carry out its original intention of doing something for the distributors and consumers of petrol is beyond my comprehension. The only section of the community that is able to get the Government to function, at will, is the primary producer. Every ill that has overtaken the primary producer is being cared for, whilst the great masses are getting it right in the neck. The sugar-coated “Mortgagors Relief Act” pill and the “put me to sleep” exchange dope, not to mention free railage privileges, etc., are examples of class legislation that is not providing a reasonable solution of the economic ills that are crushing the motorists and others. I trust Mr F. W. Johnston and others will press home the points already made by them, which are pertinent and should make those in authority sit up and take notice.— I am, etc.. ANTI-HUMBUG.
