FARMERS’ PROPOSAL.
Positions on Reserve Bank Directorate. I'er Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 14. A suggestion that the primary producers, from whose ranks two persons will be chosen for the directorate of the Reserve Bank, should make nominations to the Government, was made at a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to-day.
The president of the union, Mr W. J. Poison, M.P., said the Act provided for election to the directorate of two representatives of the primary industries and two representatives of industrial and commercial pursuits. The representatives of the primary industries would be appointed by the Government, but he had no doubt the primary industries would be ‘consulted. He suggested that a conference of the various organisations representing the primary industries should be called for the purpose of recommending to the Government persons in whom the primary producers had confidence*.
