MINISTERIAL. The itinerary of the Prime Minister’s northern tour will not be fixed until after his return from a visit to Rotorua and Matamata during the weekend. Mr Forbes will officially open the Matamata Show on Saturdaj r . Mr Justice Frazer arrived from Wellington this morning. Sir James Allen arrived from the north this morning. The Hon Oliver Farrer (London) is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Major and Mrs William-Powlett (England) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mr H. G. Miller, New Zealand director of Firestone Tyres, is visiting Hanmer and is staying at The Lodge. Messrs H, C. Wiles (Auckland) and H. J. Grayson (Dunedin) are among the guests at the Clarendon Hotel.

Mr H. J. Kelliher, managing director of New Zealand Breweries, Auckland, arrived in Christchurch last evening after a visit to Central Otago.

Mr F. J. Beer, Chief Stipendiary Steward to the New Zealand Trotting Association, left last evening for Auckland.

Mr H. Lane, a vice-president of the Addington Public Library, was unanimously elected a life member of the library at the annual meeting of subscribers last evening.

Mr N. G. Queree, of St Albans, left for Auckland last evening, ■where he will catch the s.s. Remuera for London. He may be away for about a year. v

Messrs M. C. Bennett (London), K. Gray (London), A. D. Paisley (Wellington), P. M. Garse (Dunedin), A. Moody (Dunedin) and David Wilkie (Wellington) are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Sir Philip Game, Governor of New .South Wales, and Lady Game will leave Christchurch this evening for the North Island, where they will spend the remainder of their stay in New Zealand.

Mr R. J. Anwyl, of Melbourne, manager in Australia and New Zealand for Thomas Cook and Son, Ltd., arrived in Christchurch yesterday and is staying at the United Service Hotel. He will leave for Wellington to-night.

Recent arrivals at Hanmer to take part in the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association conference include Messrs L. A. Muir (Gisborne), H. Crawford (Whangarei) and W. C. Weston (New Plymouth). Guests at the New' City Hotel include Messrs S. S. M’Kay (Melbourne), E. Davies (Auckland), R. J. Fielding, A. Van Rooyen and E. J. Kain (Wellington), J. Solomon (Dunedin), W. K. Sligo and E. Kellick (Timaru), R. P. Berry and D. Scott (Invercargill).

Messrs W. Gledhill (Sydney), R. E. Carter (Wellington), H. E. Lunn (London), A. A. Killworth (Sydney), Leo J. Duffy (Sydney), T. Kelly (Wellington), R. Anwyl (Melbourne), A. 11. Short (Wellington) and H. T. Kelleher (Auckland) are guests at the United Service Hotel.

Mr John E. Kennebeck, the newlyappointed managing director of Paramount Pictures in Australia, New Zealand, and the Far East, arrived in Christchurch from the North to-day. Mr Kennebeck, who was accompanied by Mr S. FI. Craig, the New Zealand manager for Paramount Pictures, will return north this evening. Mr J. C. Cadenhead, who has been in the service of the Christchurch Tramway Board for the last 22 years, having joined as a youth, is leaving for a holiday to Scotland. He has the distinction of not having been absent through sickness from duty for even half a day during the whole of his service. Last night he w T as presented with a suitcase by the office staff, the presentation being made bv the accountant, Mr H. T. Jarman, in the absence of the General Manager, Mr Frank Thompson.
