“THE WAY TO LOVE.”
Maurice Chevalier’s Latest Musical Romance.
In The Way to Love,” which is now showing at the Regent Theatre, Maurice Chevalier is back in his beloved Paris, singing and laughing his way joyously through life, as he did in his first great show, “ The Innocents of Paris.” The secret of Chevalier’s immense popularity is his personality, and in no previous film has he had a role that has suited him better. The picture is his first since he expressed a desire to abandon the sophisticated roles that he has had recently, and he brings to his part a joyous personality that at once infects the audience with the germ of happiness. In “ The Way to Love ” Chevalier is a simple, laughing fellow whose one passion in life is to become a Paris guide, so that he can tell tourists about the real Paris as he knows it instead of them being bored with scraps of history and descriptions of buildings. But he does not get the job at once and his life is not all sunshine and laughter. Chevalier sings several catchy tunes which linger in the mind. The supporting films maintain the high standard set by the Regent. “ Song of Songs.” Marlene Dietrich, exotic German star, has never been seen to better advantage than in “ The Song of Songs,” which will come to *he Regent Theatre shortly. It is a beautiful and artistic production with a good story and an abundance of tenr.e situations. “ The Song of Songs ”is easily Marlene’s greatest film to date, and her portrayal of a difficult role with varying moods is brilliant.
