SANDERS CUP.

First Race Sailed at Lyttelton. LIGHT BREEZE FOR CONTEST. There was a light easterly breeze for the start of the first Sanders Cup race at Lyttelton. The race was to be sailed over a windward and leeward Irene (Canterbury) got away first in a leeward position, followed by Lavina (Wellington), Eileen (Otago) and Val (Southland) in that order. Eileen came to the front fast, working to windward, but her jib halyard carried away and when it had been replaced she was weathered bv both Irene and Lavina.
