RICCARTON AVENUE.

Work of Reconstruction Held Up. If the City Council and the Riccarton Borough Council had been able to reach an agreement at last week’s conference regarding the method of carrying out the reconstruction of Riccarton Avenue, the work would have been begun this morning, according to Councillor J. W. Beanland, chairman of the Works Committee of the City Council. He. said that everything was ready for a beginning to be made, but the work could not be put in hand until the two councils were in agreement regarding the manner of doing it. In the circumstances it is possible that the work will not be put in hand for several weeks as the matters on which the two councils cannot reach agreement may lead to a good deal of further discussion.
