New Scale of Marks. Clip this out and paste it in your note-book ready for reference. As usual, the points will be awarded as follows: Special Laurel (seldom awarded) 5 marks Laurel 3 marks Printed original poem . 3 marks Printed original story . 3 marks Copied poem printed .. 1 mark Copied story printed .. 1 mark Circle artists 1 mark Good scribes 1 mark The PREMIER PRIZE will be awarded as before, one for the boy and one also for the girl with the highest marks for the year, and one additional prize for the West Coast Starlet attaining highest marks. This year, certificates of merit will be given, although books and other prizes may be included periodically. The certificates will be of a convenient size and nicely designed, as follows: “ Trier’s” certificate for 25 marks “ Diligence ” certificate for 45 marks. “ Improvement " certificate for 65 marks. “ General Excellence" certificate for 100 marks. “ Distinguished Service ” certificate for 150 marks. The marks for each certificate, up to a limit of 150, will count for the next certificate in turn, i.e., the trier’s certificate will count as 25 marks towards your diligence one, and so on. Readers may start at any issue of the page. We hope every Starlet will win at least one trier’s certificate during the year. And when you have won that, you will certainly want to win the others!
