BANDS PARADE.

Five other bands will assist the Christchurch Municipal Band in the band parade at Lancaster Park to-mor-row afternoon. The Municipal Band will bp the only Christchurch band competing at the Wellington contest this month, and this week-end function is being arranged to assist in raising funds for the trip. A collection will be made at the gates, and it is hoped that the public will give liberally, particularly as the Municipal Band, having had to abandon most of its outdoor performances this year owing to wet weather, is in dire need of money. Sunday’s concert will provide a musical treat. The Woolston Band, the Municipal Band, the First Canterbury Regimental Band and three pipe bands will contribute the programme, which will include “ Colonel Bogey,” by the massed bands, under Conductor R. J. Estall (Woolston) ; the contest selections, “Martha” and “Mock Doctor”; the contest marching selection by the Municipal Band, and items by the Caledonian and Scottish Pipe Bands. The Lancaster Park Board of Control has given the use of the park free. The bands will march from Cathedral Square, the First Canterbury Regimental leading off at 2.15 p.m., and the massed bands selection will be played at three o’clock. The Christchurch Municipal Band will give a further concert in the city rotunda on Sunday night, commencing at 8.15. The New Brighton Brass Band will give an open-air concert at a later date in aid of the funds.
