CARNIVAL ON SATURDAY.
The Canterbury Surf Association’s carnival, which is to be held at New Brighton on Saturday, starting et 2 p.m.. promises to be a great success. The association is making a big effort to raise funds for a surf boat, and it appeals to the public to support this worthy cause. All the side-shows and material have been kindly lent by the New Brighton carnival committee, and will be manned by Surf Club men and many assistants. In the evening special attractions will Include a standing and underhand chop, with the local champions competing. Tn addition a ladies’ tug-o’-war team will pull the New Brighton Fire. Brigade, and good Gentries have been received for the men’s tug-o'-war. The climax of the evening will be the parade of the New Brighton darktown brigade, who will perform numerous " stunts ” throughout the carnival. Derry’s Military Band will be in attendance, both afternoon and evening, and will march through the township in the evening at 7.30
