Notes and News From Far and Near. By “AERIAL.” Last week the writer visited a radio enthusiast's paradise. This receiving: station is about live miles from Dunedin on top of a high hill. There are no forms of Interference within three miles. On the night that the trip was , made one of Dunedin's Scotch mists provailec?, thick and nourishing:. -My spirits were dampened by the weather, but once in the cosy home of the man who owned what seemed to he an endless supply of modern receivers, enthusiasm rose to concert pitch. If the perfection of reception were described, I would not be believed. 3YA and 3YL both came in at wonderful strength and clarity with distant stations providing some thrills. Christchurch—now that 3YL is going —has certainly nothing to complain about as far as variety is concerned. Flow many people, before they left on their holidays—took the precaution of tightening up their aerial guys? Several cases were reported in which neighbours rendered first aid to poles which swayed badly In the storms that hit Christchurch during the holidays. Construction of the new IYA is planned for early this year. There will, of course, be an increase in the power.
