Civic Offers Drama of Great Dignity.
“ The Lost Chord," based on Sir Arthur Sullivan's immortal melody, and now screening at the Civic Theatre, is undoubtedly a worthy successor to the Twickenham Studios 1933 outstanding success “In a Monastery Garden.' ''The Lost Chord ” is a drama of great dignity, based on a charming melody and a delightful story which has great human power in it. Elizabeth Allan, John Stuart and Anne Gray are include.! in a wonderful cast for this film. Besides the famous song from which the film takes its title other beautiful melodies are introduced. Tudor Davies, the English operatic singer, rentiers the theme song, “Some Day,” and Elizabeth Allan introduces the charming ballad “ Madeline." The story concerns David Graham, a young composer who travels K> Italy to rescue the child of the woman he loves from the divorced husband, Count Zara. In the meantime, however, the Count's mistress has carried the child off and the young composer’s journey is in vain. When Madeline hears that her child is lost to her she finds solace in an old convent Twenty years later the child, now grown in womanhood returns, thus supplying material for the unwinding of a further chapter in this delightful musical romance.
