There was an increase, of Id at Christmas time, and it was passed on to the public. MOTH PLANE CRASHES. HAWERA, January 17. A moth plane, the property of the Western Federated Flying Club, was extensively damaged when the pilot, Air J. Stanmore, of Wanganui, attempted to land in a paddock near the Hawera aerodrome about ten o’clock this morning. Except minor injury to his forehead, the pilot was unnurt. Mr Stanmore was making his first flight from Wanganui to Hawera and it is stated that he was unable to locate the aerodrom*. He was turning into the wind to land In a paddock when the plane nosedived from a height of a few feet and crashed, the tail pointing upwards. The lower wing was wrecked and the top wing twisted almost parallel with the body of the plane. The propellor was splintered off the boss. RATIONING TEACHERS. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 17. In reply to a message about the problem of unemployed teachers, Mr S. G. Smith, M.P., has received a telegram from the Hon R. Masters stating: “Your telegram to hand. The question of rationing teachers has been engaging my attention. I hope to announce a scheme for this year before the end of the week.
