Surf Boats.

The proposal to inaugurate a fund to secure surf boats for the local beaches was approved at a meeting of the Canterbury Surf Life Saving Association last evening. The matter same up when a suggestion made public bv Mr L. P. Hart was considered. In adopting the proposal it was decided to send a letter 6{ thanks to Mr Hart for an offer of £5 to start a fund to purchase the boats. On the motion of Mr C. R. Riordan it was resolved to support the appeal and to ask the Christchurch newspapers to give their whole-hearted assistance to the scheme. Mr A. I. Cottrell seconded the motion, which was carried by a large majority. Messrs D. V. Wilson, J. M. Mitchell, C. A. Cooper, Riordan and Cottrell were appointed a sub-committee to investigate the matter and report back to the association with a view to taking active steps in support of the appeal.
