Mr and Mrs Stephen Barnett, Fendalton, are staying in Dunedin. Miss Janet Paterson. Timaru, is the guest of Mrs F. S. Batchelor, Dunedin The Misses Evans, Gloucester Street, are visiting Wellington. Mrs F. A. Brittan. Avonside, will leave on Saturday for Hanmer Springs. Mr and Mrs R. Atkinson, Stoke Street, Sumner, are staying at Kenilworth, Cashel Street West. Miss Thelma Poole, who has been in Wellington for the tennis test match, has returned home. . Mrs W. 11. Moves, New Plymouth, is staying with Mrs G. Leslie Rutherford. Macdonald Downs. Mrs F. M’Creanor. Riccarton, will leave at the end of the- week on a visit to North Beach. Mr and Mrs R. J. Lyon, Knowles Street, who have been spending a holiday at Akaroa, have returned home. Miss E. Norrie, who has been staying in Gore, has returned to North Beach, accompanied bv Miss Henry, Gore. Mrs A. Crawford, Wanganui, will visit Christchurch early next week for the New Zealand croquet championship. Mr and Mrs 11. Marks, New Brighton, who have bgen staying in Queenstown, have returned home. Major W. I. K. Jennings and Mrs Jennings and family are spending a holiday at Sumner. Miss W. Diddams, Paparoa Street, who has been staying at Stewart Island, returned home to-day. Miss Marjorie Archery, Shirley, -will leave to-morrow for a fortnight’s holiday at Lake Brunner. Miss Bromley Cocks. Ranfurlv Street, who has been staying in Geraldine, will return home to-morrow. Miss Nola East, North Beach, is the guest of Mr and Mrs M’G. M’Kenzie, Cashmere Hills. Miss M. Norrie, who fs in charge of the school at TaJkamatua, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs F. S. Norrie. Bowhill Road, North Beach. Miss Jessie Mackay. Cashmere Hills, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs Arthur Dixon, Geraldine, has returned home. Miss Hide, Ohoka, and her niecres, Misses .Ina and Riti Griffin, Ohoka, who have been the guests of Mrs Spedding, Sclwyn Huts, returned home on Monday. Mr and Mrs Inkster, North Beach, who have been staying in the North Island, have returned home. Miss Inkster has also returned from a visit to Dunedin. Mrs Charles Reid. Merivale Lane, with Mrs E. J. Chennells, Fendalton, and Miss Dorothy Bone, will leave this week on a motor tour to Blenheim and Marlborough. Miss. Cowlishaw, Knowles Street, returned to Christchurch yesterday from a camping holiday spent in the North Island with Mrs Hector Rolleston. Mrs F. 11. Pyne and Miss Colin Pyne left to-day for Hanmer Springs after a visit to Christchurch. Next week they will be joined by Mrs George Robinson, Peel Forest. Commodore C. A. Bartlett C. 8., C.8.E.. R.N.R., retired superintendent of the White Star Line, and Mrs Bartlett, accompanied by Dr. C. and Mrs Coldicutt, Auckland, are touring New Zealand by car. Miss Oliver Kay, Dunedin, and Miss Bessie Gaisford, Marton, the wellknown New Zealand golfers, will leave New Zealand by the Mataroa on February 6. en route to England. Miss Betty Nancarrow, Bealey Avenue, who has been spending a few weeks camping with her sister, Mrs Bernard Chambers at Lake Waikaremoana, has returned home. She also stayed with Mrs Michael Gordon, “ Taurapa,” Hastings.

Mrs H. S. Barker, Fendalton, has left for Picton to meet her mother and sister, Lady Nolan and Miss Nolan, Auckland. Later they will stay at the Franz Josefh Glacier, and will arrive in Christchurch towards the end of next week.

Miss Agnes Buchanan, Christchurch, is staying with Mrs Westmacott, Nile Street, Timaru. Mrs Reg Hawkins, Eltham Road, Blenheim, is spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs W. A. Moore, Wai-iti Road, Timaru, left yesterday for Christchurch, accompanied by Miss Edith Moore, Melbourne, who was her guest. Mrs Ronald Fisher, Chapter Street, Christchurch, who was the guest of Miss Oliver. Surrey Downs, Pleasant Point, has returned home. Miss Laura Loughnan, Christchurch, arrived in Wellington yesterday morning from the south, and is visiting Miss Frances Harty, Belmont. Miss Betty Andrews and Miss E. Diebert, Christchurch, passed through Wellington recently to spend a holiday in Palmerston North. Miss L. D. Allen, Shepreth Cottage, Bealey Avenue, returned home to-day from a visit to her parents, Sir James and Lady Allen, Dunedin. Miss Jessie Reid, Auckland, who is well-known in golf circles, will leave by the Mataroa on February 6, for England. Mr and Mrs A. W. Eames and the Misses F. and C. Eames, Bowhill Road, North Beach, who have been staying at Oxford, have returned home. Miss E. J. Maxwell, St Albans, will leave by the Narbada from Dunedin en route for Taiping, Federated Malay States, where she will be the guest of Mrs Arthur Priest (Becky Logan). Miss Hilda Jones, Christchurch, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs David Jones. Bryndwr, after visiting Palmerston North for the Manawatu tennis tournament.

Miss Amelia Morris, Christchurch, who has been the guest of Mrs M. Gotlieb, The Terrace, Wellington, left for Palmerston North yesterday for the New Zealand intermediate and junior swimming championships. Mrs G. W. Forbes will arrive in Christchurch to-morrow morning from Wellington. She will return north shortly, accompanied by her daughters, Misses Bertha and Jessie Forbes, and they will go to Waitangi to attend the celebrations there in February.
